Motherlode
Online presence for future meme token Motherlode — interactive, glitchy, shader-driven, and built for fun in React + WebGL.
— 01 / Brief
"The MOTHERLODE is landing any day now, and this brave new token needs a place online to call home. A distinctive, easter-egg ridden, meme-pilled home." The goal was to create a single-page, high-performance, richly animated landing page. No scrolling, maximum interactivity and user exploration. To build hype and establish a unique identity for the crypto project.
— 02 / Approach
A retro-futuristic, Y2K visual identity was developed first, drawing on the Matrix, skeuomorphic interfaces and cyberpunk aesthetics. The front end was then built with agentic assistance — I specced it out and directed Claude Code to scaffold a React and TypeScript app, with a custom Three.js particle system, a reactbits shader background (built on OGL), and procedurally generated sound via the Web Audio API. Deployed on Vercel.
— 03 / Outcome
A fast, single-screen landing page: a clickable glowing central orb, a cursor-reactive particle field and a glitchy shader terminal, laced with hidden easter eggs. Equal parts meme-coin concept and technical playground — real-time WebGL, GPU particles and live-synthesised audio, all running in-browser with nothing to download.
